B.J. is back; LPGA braces for press conferences featuring angry dads
Michelle Wie’s father B.J. Wie made his presence known at the Women’s Open last year. It lead to his firing… by himself. So why is he back on the bag for Michelle this year?
We’ll let Michelle tell it in her own words:
We were going to get another caddie, but then I have to get used to him and I didn’t want to waste the time to get used to the caddie while I have to get used to the course. There’s no one that knows me better than my dad, so I just have him on the bag.
She claims not to listen to her dad on the course, but this only adds to the spectacle of the past week. One could surmise that her breakdown, dropping a four hole lead at Publinx, was the impetus for this move. B.J. claims that he want Mike “Fluff” Cowan to caddie this weekend. But fathers being fathers we wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted another shot at showing up Danielle Ammaccapane’s father, whom Wie accused of threatening him.
The LPGA U.S. Women’s Open begins Thursday, July 1.
