The Safeway International at Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club is getting antsy over the potential loss of one of their favorite competitors.

Aside from having only six sponsor exemptions here’s some of the more interesting reasons Michelle probably won’t make Superstition according to the Arizona Republic piece:

• A new event to start the season has been added to the schedule in Wie’s home state of Hawaii, and she probably will play in at least one Hawaii event, or possibly both.
• Wie’s agent, Ross Berlin, is working on a possible sponsorship deal with Rolex, which also is a major sponsor of the Evian Masters.
• Wie’s father, B.J., told the Associated Press this week that “her school schedule comes first.” The Safeway will be played one week before Wie’s spring break, and the Kraft Nabisco is the week after her break.
